No. 3 Georgia Tops South Dakota State, 14-6

BROOKINGS, S.D. --- No. 3 Georgia defeated South Dakota State, 14-6, as the snow fell in blizzard fashion at the DeHann Equestrian Center. With the win, Georgia improves to 4-2 on season.

Senior Meg O'Mara earned MOP honors for her ride in Equitation Over Fences and remains undefeated in Equitation Over Fences and Equitation on the Flat with one meet remaining in the fall schedule. Bailey Anderson (Horsemanship) and Claudia Spreng (Reining) also earned MOP honors for their performances.

"Today was a great success," head coach Meghan Boenig said. "We saw a lot of great rides for a challenging day, from being in a blizzard, to staying focused, and it being a long meet. South Dakota State put on a wonderful competition and our girls rose to the occasion. Now the job is to get cleaned up and refocus to look at our patterns for tomorrow. It is a quick turn around. Oklahoma State has a great home record and will be looking for us."

The meet started with Georgia jumping to a 4-1 lead in Equitation Over Fences. SDSU took the first point of the event, before O'Mara put Georgia on the board. The Rumson, N.J. native remains undefeated after edging her opponent 85-83. Emma Mandarino topped Blair Wright of South Dakota State, 84-65. Liza Finsness earned the next point for Georgia, before Sydney Hutchins closed out the event bettering Jessica Andronowitz's score.

Georgia extended its lead in Reining, defeating the Jackrabbits, 3-2. Spreng defeated her SDSU opponent 72-69.5 to earn MOP honors, before Graysen Stroud edged Alicia Johnson, 68.5-68. Kyndall Harper earned another point for the Bulldogs, scoring a 70 to better Miranda Sullivan's 67.5.

Georgia led South Dakota State, 7-3, after two events.

Georgia rode to a 4-1 advantage in Horsemanship. Bailey Anderson led off by defeating her opponent, 73-68. Madison Anger earned another point for the Bulldogs, besting SDSU's Whitney Vesey, 71.5-70. Anna Hutlas and Stroud earned the final two points of the event after earning a score of 70.5. Stroud's point earned her MOP honors and sealed Georgia's victory over South Dakota State with one event remaining.

Georgia earned three more points in Equitation on the Flat. Finsness rode to a 79-76 victory over SDSU's Jessica Martinez, before O'Mara knocked off Jacey Chorlton, 77-72 to remain undefeated. Hutchins earned the final point for the Bulldogs with a 74-71 win.

Georgia closes the fall portion of is schedule tomorrow as the team heads to Oklahoma State to face the Cowgirls on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. ET.
