ORANGE BEACH, Ala. --- The eighth-seeded Georgia soccer team was eliminated from the SEC Tournament Wednesday evening at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Ala., suffering a 3-0 loss to regular season champion and top seed Texas A&M in quarterfinal action.

The loss drops Georgia to 10-7-2 on the season, while the Aggies improve to 16-2-2.

"It was a tough assignment. [Texas] A&M is very good, credit to them," said head coach Steve Holeman. "They are one of the top teams in the country, and playing them after playing 110 minutes on Monday night was a tall order. They finished their chances, and to give up a goal in the first couple of minutes in each half kind of did us in."

"I think if we look at our total body of work throughout the entire season, we have a very good RPI," Holeman said. "I don't think a loss against the No. 3 RPI-team in the country is going to hurt us. We have two top-20 RPI wins and another top-50 win, so our resume looks pretty good and hopefully we'll be hearing our name next Monday [during the NCAA Selection Show]."

Texas A&M took a 1-0 lead just over five minutes into the game after a Georgia turnover at midfield. Annie Kunz recovered, and poked it to Bianca Brinson who finished her breakaway chance past Louise Hogrell to put Texas A&M on top early.

Georgia's first look at the goal came with 20 minutes to play as Rachel Garcia chased a loose ball in close, but her flick on went wide of the frame. The Bulldog back line was able to keep the Aggies off the board for the remainder of the frame, and Texas A&M entered the break leading 1-0 and up 5-2 in shots.

But the Aggies would take a 2-0 lead just 24 seconds after the break as Kunz fired a bomb upper corner over Hogrell off a pass from Shea Groom for her sixth of the season. It moved to 3-0 in the 61st minute when Meghan Streight headed one in following a free kick from Kelley Monogue on the right side.

Garcia had a good chance for Georgia as time wound down in the half toward seven minutes to play, but sent one high from the top of the 18. Georgia could never overcome the deficit, as the Aggies would hold on for the 3-0 victory to move into Friday's semifinals.

The Bulldogs will await next Monday's NCAA Selection Show, set for 4:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
