Derek Armstrong was hired in July 2022 to be Georgia track and field’s Director of Internal Operations.
A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Armstrong earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Georgetown in 2015 before graduating with Juris Doctor (JD) and Business Administration (MBA) degrees from the University of Oregon in 2020.
Following his graduation, Armstrong worked with Nike, the Oregon Supreme Court, the Oregon State University athletic program and several other entities in the Washington, D.C., California and Oregon areas.
Armstrong, who moved from Canada to Charlottesville, Va., when he was 9, primarily worked in operations or the field of law during his time in Oregon and is a member of the Oregon State Bar. He missed the collegiate athletic environment, however, and couldn’t turn down the opportunity to join the elite track and field staff and team at Georgia.
Armstrong played on the club hockey team at Oregon, is an avid golfer and enjoys all sports in general. Another central hobby is exploring the local food scene wherever he is based.
