Katie Althoff

Katie Althoff was hired as the Bulldogs’ distance assistant during the 2026 summer after earning an undergraduate degree from Santa Clara and two master’s degrees from Ohio State while competing for those schools’ distance programs.
A native of Sioux Falls, S.D., Althoff (formerly Castelli) earned 2025 All-Great Lakes Region honors in cross country and All-Big Ten Second Team accolades during the outdoor season of her final year. The 2026 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar was a three-time College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District selection who also earned the 2025 Big Ten Cross Country Sportsmanship Award.
On the track and course, Althoff set the Ohio State record in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a 9:57.59 at the 2026 Big Ten Championships. She was also part of the No. 2 all-time mark in the distance medley relay (11:18.95) and fourth in the 1500m (4:20.67). She was 15th at the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Great Lakes Regional and competed at the 2025 then 2026 NCAA East Prelims in the steeplechase after taking second in the event at the 2026 Big Ten Championships. In addition, Althoff ran at the 2024 NCAA West Prelims while suiting up for Santa Clara.
Althoff finished her bachelor’s degree from Santa Clara in 2024, graduating Cum Laude. She earned her master’s degree in Kinesiology/Sport Management as well as her master’s in Sports Coaching from Ohio State.
