Georgia concluded its 1998 season with a 3-1 win over in-state rival Georgia Tech and evened its overall record to 14-14.

After a 4-11 record to begin the season, Georgia turned its fortunes around with a 10-3 record down the stretch. The Lady Bulldogs swept SEC East rival South Carolina for the first time since 1994 and entered the SEC Tournament with an 8-6 conference record. Georgia and USC tied for the No. 2 spot in the SEC East standings, but in the tie-breaking process took the No. 3 seed for the tournament.

Early on, the Lady Bulldogs were beset by injuries, most noticably Allison Dickinson's torn ACL. She sustained her injury early into the first game of the Clemson match and missed the entire season.

Dog Bites

    ? Kathy Vis earned her second-consecutive First-Team All-SEC honor, while Rebecca Dady was named to the All-SEC Second-Team for the third time in her career and Mindi Westfall received her first All-SEC Second-Team recognition. Vis leads the team in hitting, service aces and blocking. Dady is second on the the team in digs (271) and kills (271). Westfall ranks second on the team in blocks with a total of 68 denials and is fourth in hitting.
    ? Nnenna Amobi, Cassie Brill, Rebecca Dady, Allison Dickinson, Courtney Shealy and Mindi Westfall were selected to the 1998 Southeastern Conference Honor Roll. Georgia and Tennessee topped the list with the most honors for one school.
    ? Kathy Vis earned SEC Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row for her efforts in Georgia's three wins the week of Nov. 9. She is the first Lady Bulldog to receive the honor twice in the same season since Priscilla Pacheco did so in 1993 and the first ever from Georgia to win the award in back-to-back weeks since the award was instituted in 1991.
    ? Cassie Brill and Wendy Powell concluded their careers as Lady Bulldogs and were recognized in a ceremony before the Georgia Tech match. Brill is second on the team in hitting and Powell is third in service aces and fourth in digs.

Last Week
Georgia continued its domination of in-state rival Georgia Tech with a 3-1 win over the Yellow Jackets. The two teams had not faced each other since 1992. The Lady Bulldogs have never lost to the Yellow Jackets and are 20-0 all-time against Tech. Rebecca Dady led Georgia with 24 kills. Cassie Brill ended her career as a Lady Bulldog with a match-high .429 hitting efficiency. Mindi Westfall tallied 56 assists running the offense and led the team on defense with 21 digs.
