ESPN Announces Info on Bulldog Non-Conference Events

ATHENS, Ga. — ESPN announced the tip times and network assignments for the Georgia Bulldogs' games in both the Jimmy V Classic and the ESPN Events Invitational on Monday.
The Bulldogs will play Duke at 9:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Madison Square Garden, with the contest set to air on ESPN. The Jimmy V Classic presented by Modelo also will feature Alabama against Houston at 6:30 p.m.
ESPN also revealed the matchups for its Events Invitational, which will be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex just outside Orlando in Kissimmee, Fla. Georgia will face Cincinnati on Thanksgiving Day at 11 a.m. on ESPN and will take on UCF the following evening at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The Bulldogs, Bearcats and Knights will be joined by Boston College in the 10-team event's "Magic Group." That quartet will play pre-determined games since Georgia and B.C. are scheduled to meet the following week in Athens as part of the SEC/ACC Challenge.
The Bulldogs own a 3-2 edge in all-time meetings with Duke; however, the Bulldogs and Blue Devils have not met in nearly a century. In the last matchup, Georgia earned a 43-32 win on Feb. 28, 1932 in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament. That season, the Bulldogs defeated Mississippi State, Virginia, Duke and North Carolina to capture the 19832 SoCon Championship.
Georgia is 2-2 all-time against Cincinnati, including an 84-65 win last season in Atlanta as part of Holiday Hoopsgiving. Blue Cain scored a career-high 22 points and also posted five rebounds, five assists and five steals in the victory.
The Bulldogs are 4-0 versus UCF, with the most recent matchup being a 103-54 victory on Dec. 19, 1995. That Georgia team eventually advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Tournament under first-year head coach Tubby Smith.
Georgia now has four non-conference games with game times set on ESPN networks. The Bulldogs also will host Boston College on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 5:00 p.m. on ESPN2 as part of the SEC/ACC Challenge.
