Bulldogs Pick Up Consolation Wins, Remain in NCAA Contention

Cary, N.C. — Three Georgia women's tennis players remain in contention for NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship berths following Friday's action at the ITA All-American Championships. No. 38 Anastasiia Gureva and No. 80 Linea Bajraliu advanced through the consolation draw while No. 54 Emma Dong's main-draw run came to an end.

No. 3 Luciana Perry of Ohio State defeated No. 54 Dong, 6-3, 6-1, ending Dong's run in the main draw.
No. 38 Gureva opened consolation play with a 7-5, 0-6, 6-3 victory over Anna Frey of North Carolina.
No. 80 Bajraliu earned a three-set victory over Victoria Osuigwe of NC State, 6-3, (4)6-7, 6-4.
No. 21 Tatum Evans of North Carolina defeated Bella Payne, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
No. 80 Bajraliu continued her consolation run with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over No. 6 Piper Charney of Michigan.
No. 38 Gureva closed the day with a three-set comeback over No. 19 Monika Ekstrand of Stanford, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(4).

Tournament Note:

Ten singles players (eight main draw quarterfinalists and two consolation finalists) and five doubles teams (four main draw semifinalists and consolation champion) will earn spots through this tournament.

Dilek Advances to Ankara Open Semifinals
Georgia sophomore Deniz Dilek earned her third consecutive WTA victory at the WTA 125 Ankara Open on Friday, defeating No. 195 Anastasia Gasanova, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, before advancing to the semifinals. Dilek will compete in the semifinals Saturday.
