UGA Athletics Board Convenes for Fall Meeting

ATHENS, Ga. — A record GPA, another top-10 finish in the Learfield Directors' Cup and an emphasis on Georgia's sustained success over the last athletics season highlighted remarks made by J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Josh Brooks during the UGA Athletic Association Board of Directors meeting, held Friday at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education and Hotel.
Highlight of Brooks' Remarks
- Georgia student-athletes combined for a 3.28 cumulative GPA during the 2025-26 athletics season, marking the highest GPA in program history. It topped last year's 3.26.
- UGA was one of just two schools in the country last year to make the College Football Playoff, the College World Series and the NCAA tournament in men's and women's basketball.
- Georgia was the only athletic program in 2025-26 to boast 12 wins in football, 40-plus wins in baseball, 20-plus wins in both men's and women's basketball with postseason appearances in all those sports.
- Over the last six years, the Bulldogs have earned 10 overall national championships, 14 SEC titles and 32 individual crowns.
- Georgia's 55 overall national championships ranks second-most among all SEC programs.
- In addition to a No. 8 finish in the Learfield Directors' Cup, Georgia compiled the highest point total in school history with 1,081.25 total points.
- Soccer in Sanford was a marquee event to open the 2026-27 athletics season. Georgia set a new collegiate record — both men and women — with 25,433 fans in attendance.

- Brooks highlighted several highly-ranked recruiting classes, including men's golf and baseball, which each signed the No. 1 class. Women's tennis, women's golf, gymnastics and football all ranked in the top 10.
- Mookie DeMoss is in his first season as the men's golf head coach; Ford Williams has taken on an expanded role as the Chief Revenue Officer.
- The Magill Society has raised $442.6 million since 2016, while the capital campaign has generated $292.3 million.
Highlights of remarks from Faculty Athletics Representative Prof. David Shipley
- In addition to the record 3.28 overall GPA, Shipley highlighted the men's cross country team, which compiled a 3.52. The women's tennis team received the coveted FAR Award for the highest overall GPA with an impressive 3.663, narrowly edging gymnastics, which finished with a 3.660.
- Eighteen of Georgia's 21 sports finished above a 3.0 last season.
- Of the Bulldogs' 511 overall student-athletes, 361 (71 percent) finished above a 3.0.
- The Joel Eaves Awards for rising seniors with the highest GPAs will be presented to soccer's Kiera Staude and football's Will Snelling.
- Ten student-athletes will receive FAR Excellence Awards for graduating with a 3.8 GPA or higher.
- Men's swimmer Sam Powe is the SEC's winner of the Davis Postgrad Scholarship.
