June 08, 2026 | Track & Field
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A trio of Bulldogs have been voted Southeastern Conference outdoor annual awards, according to a league announcement Monday.
With the 2026 Outdoor NCAA Championships just two days away, three Bulldogs tallied entries across six events while also earning SEC annual awards. Two of the Bulldogs honored won individual conference crowns, and a third brought a bronze medal back to Athens.
All three Bulldogs completed a sweep of the respective SEC indoor and outdoor honors. Junior Kimani Jack was named the SEC Men's Newcomer Field Athlete of the Year, redshirt freshman Adaejah Hodge garnered SEC Women's Freshman Runner of the Year honors and freshman Jonathan Simms was voted the SEC Men's Freshman Runner of the Year.
Jack, a native of London, England, swept this year's SEC indoor and outdoor high jump titles. He secured the conference title after leaping 2.23m/7-3.75. Jack also leaped an NCAA lead and school record-setting mark of 2.31m/ 7-7 earlier in the season at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial. That mark ranks No. 22 in collegiate history and is the eighth-best leap by a British jumper in world history.
British Virgin Islands native Hodge captured the SEC outdoor title in the 200-meter dash with a winning time of 21.92. That finish ranks No. 4 in the current world standings and No. 4 in collegiate history. Hodge also ran the second leg of the women's 4x100m relay that won silver (42.61). Earlier in the season she also clocked a 10.77 in the 100m dash to win Florida's Tom Jones Memorial, which currently stands as the fastest finish of 2026 and No. 2 in collegiate history.
Simms, a native of Allen, Texas, earned bronze in the SEC 400-meter final with a time of 44.16. Back in April, Simms clocked a season best of 44.02 to claim the school record and win the Torrin Lawerence Invite.
