Key Quotes

Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson
Opening Statement…
"I thought when Joey [Volchko] came out yesterday, he was really good and set the tone early. Anytime you're in a regional, it doesn't matter who you're playing, there needs to be a lot of energy to start the first game or you'll see things get sideways. I thought Joey did a phenomenal job of coming in and attacking the strike zone there. Offensively, I thought Jack [Arcamone] had got off good swings to really get us going. That one homer he hit looked like it was shot out of a cannon. We thought our offense did a really good job of staying in their approach, attacking the strike zone. I'm really proud of the way our guys came out after the delay this morning. Brennan Hudson obviously got the restart going with a nice swing and Ryan Wynn got another one, and there was a lot of good offensive things that we did. I thought Teddy Brennan was really good out of the pen there in the seventh."

#37 Joey Volchko | Jr. | RHP
On his start setting the tone for the regional for the team...
"My job is to set the tone and get us as deep into the game as possible. Giving us a good chance to continue to play our best baseball throughout the entire regional was my main focus and getting one guy at a time. Especially in the postseason, you have a lot of eyes and attention on you, but you have to stay in the moment, stay present, get the guy in front of you out and just go from there."

#7 Jack Arcamone | Jr. | C/OF
On how he's become more comfortable in the box this season...
"Me and Coach [Wes Johnson] talk about being the hero of your own imagination, telling yourself before you go to bed every night that you're going to go out there and compete and be the best player you can. Then taking that into the game with all the confidence. I feel like I'm super prepared, and ready for the moment."
