Track & Field Wraps Up Day One of SEC Indoor Championships with a Bronze Medal

College Station, Texas — Georgia track & field wraps up a successful first day at SEC Indoor Championships by setting a new world led and bringing home a bronze medal                                                                                                         in College Station on Thursday night in College station .
 
Fast Facts:
  • Friday's competition started out with the multi events, first with the women's pentathlon at Noon. Senior Ella Rush would not only start off competition on the women's side but also start out the scoring contributing the first point the Lady Bulldogs point total with an eighth-place finish in the women's pentathlon.
  • Meanwhile, in the men's heptathlon, sophomore Maximus Tucker currently sits second on the leaderboard with 3,059 points through four events. Tucker started the day out with a career-best 7.12 in the 60 meter hurdles and closed the day with a near career-best performance in the high jump at 1.98m/6-6. Maximus still has three events left tomorrow and sits in prime position in second place.
  • Next in the women's 200-meter dash prelims, sophomore Adaejah Hodge stole the show setting another 2026 world lead in addition to being the qualification winner. Hodge's career best of 22.50 also moves her Tied for No. 21 . Collegiate All-Time Indoors. 
  • Georgia has tallied two impressive showings in the men's and women's long jumps tonight. Sophomore Jayden Keys captured the first medal of the meet winning bronze for his  7.84m/25-8.75  performance in the men's long jump.
  • On the women's side, freshman Ava Kitchings made a strong SEC freshman debut finishing in sixth place with a career best  leap of 6.43m/21-1.25 - PR.
  • To close out the night, the men's distance medley relay squad composed of juniors Ryan Olree and Mohamed Adonini, sophomore Xai Ricks and graduate transfer Matias Reygana. The quartet also set a Georgia record finishing at 9:33.84.
