September 09, 2025 | Baseball

ATHENS, Ga.-----The Georgia Bulldogs will open the Southeastern Conference portion of their 2026 baseball schedule with Tennessee at Foley Field, according to announcement by the SEC office Tuesday as they released league slates for all 16 schools.

The Bulldogs will begin their 30-game conference schedule March 13-15 in Athens against the Volunteers. Georgia's other four SEC home series will be against South Carolina (March 27-29), Florida (Apr. 10-12), Missouri (May 1-3), and defending national champion LSU (May 8-10).

The five SEC road series will be against Texas A&M (March 20-22), Mississippi State (Apr. 2-4), Arkansas (Apr. 17-19), Ole Miss (Apr. 24-26) and close out the regular season at Auburn (May 14-16). The 2026 SEC schedule is subject to change for television, including the move of some conference series to begin on Thursdays. For example, the Georgia-MSU series during Easter weekend has already been moved to Thursday-Saturday.

For the second straight year, SEC baseball teams will play a three-game series against two permanent opponents and eight rotating opponents for a total of 30 conference games. Standings will be kept in a single-division format. Georgia's permanent opponents are Auburn and Florida. The league determined permanent opponents on several factors including geography, traditional opponents and strength of schedule. A record 13 SEC teams earned NCAA Tournament bids in 2025 with a record-tying eight SEC teams selected as NCAA Regional hosts.

Georgia will begin fall practice Sept. 19 under the direction of Ike Cousins head baseball coach Wes Johnson who enters his third season. Johnson has led the Bulldogs to 86 wins and a pair of NCAA Tournaments as a national top eight seed.

Georgia's regular season non-conference schedule will be announced later this year. Ticket information will be available in January. Follow this link for information on supporting baseball student-athletes through the Georgia Baseball Fund (GBF). The 2026 college baseball season begins Feb. 13.

The SEC Tournament returns to Hoover, Ala., and will be held May 19-24. It will feature all 16 teams in a single-elimination format. SEC Tournament tickets will go on sale in March at SECsports.com. NCAA Regional action will be May 29-June 1 with Super Regionals slated for June 5-8, both played at various campus sites. The College World Series (CWS) will be conducted June 12-222 in Omaha, Neb. The SEC has claimed six consecutive baseball national championship by five different programs since 2019.

Georgia's top returning hitters include junior Tre Phelps (.318 BA, 10 HR, 44 RBI), senior Kolby Branch (.303-13-41) and junior Daniel Jackson (.240-14-36, 12 SB). After having 10 players selected in the 2025 MLB Draft including their top five starting pitchers, Georgia bolstered its 2026 team with a portal class ranked among the nation's best by multiple outlets. Georgia's class features a combination of power pitchers and hitters. The top-rated newcomers include pitchers Joey Volchko (Stanford), Dylan Vigue (Michigan), Caden Aoki (USC) and Matt Scott (Stanford), two-way talents in Kenny Ishikawa (Seattle) and Bryce Calloway (New Orleans) plus utility player Jack Arcamone (Richmond), outfielders Cole Koniarsky (UNLV) and Jordy Oriach (New Mexico) along with infielders Michael O'Shaughnessy (Davidson) and Rylan Lujo (Dayton). Also, three members of Georgia's freshmen class were 2025 MLB Draft selections: outfielder Cole Johnson (18th round, Baltimore), outfielder Ty Peeples (20th round, Toronto) and pitcher Dylan Wood (19th round, Kansas City).
