Brooks Bulletin - June 9th

June 09, 2025 | General, Brooks Bulletin

As we travel to Oregon to cheer on our top-5 men's and women's track teams at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, I have taken a moment to reflect on what has been an extraordinary year for Georgia Athletics and to focus on the great days ahead.

First, let me say what an incredible honor it is to serve as your athletics director.

Over the past four years, our student-athletes have achieved remarkable success: six team national championships, nine SEC titles, and an unprecedented 22 individual national championships. At the same time, they have set new school-record GPAs in each of the last three seasons. From earning multiple SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors to receiving numerous academic and leadership awards, our student-athletes continue to inspire and remind us why we do what we do.

Many of you have been following the developments around the House v. NCAA settlement and the broader changes coming to college athletics.

I want to assure you that our staff has been working diligently to prepare for this moment. As I have said before, there is no place I would rather be than the University of Georgia. We are in a strong position—ready not only to adapt but to thrive in this new era of college sports.

Our top priority remains unchanged: fulfilling the University of Georgia's mission of excellence in teaching and learning, while preserving and enhancing the student-athlete experience.

With the passing of the House v. NCAA settlement, athletic departments can now share revenue with student-athletes and eliminate scholarship caps. At the same time, the settlement introduces a cap on institutional distributions, helping to level the playing field. We believe these changes represent meaningful progress for our student-athletes.
So, what does this mean for you?

We are fully funding our revenue-sharing commitment of $20.5 million, incorporating it into our annual budget. Our athletic staff has taken every step—big and small—to ensure we are positioned for success.

Your continued support is more important than ever. Time and again, you have answered the call, helping us set new fundraising records year after year. To maintain our elite level of competition in the SEC, we ask that you keep investing in the Georgia Bulldog Club, purchasing tickets, and showing up to support all of our teams.

Bulldog Nation is truly one of a kind, and I look forward to continuing our journey together as we elevate Georgia Athletics to even greater heights.

Go Dawgs!
