LUBBOCK, Texas — Graduate student Chantal El Chaib started the week strong at the NCAA Lubbock Regional, posting an opening round of 74 on Sunday to finish the tournament's opening day tied for 10th.

·       The Lubbock Regional began a day early due to expected rain on Monday, with the 65 competitors competing in the tournament's first round on Sunday. El Chaib carded a 2-over 74 on the tournament's first day to earn a share of 10thplace through 18 holes.
·       Starting the day on hole 1, El Chaib sunk a par to open the round before draining a birdie on the par 5 hole 2. She then parred on six of the final seven holes on the front nine to sit in a tie for fifth at the turn.
