UGA Athletics Board Convenes for Spring Meetings

May 22, 2025 | General

LAKE OCONEE, Ga. — A glowing academic report and a presentation from J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Josh Brooks highlighted the first day of the University of Georgia Athletic Association Board of Directors spring meetings on Thursday.

Below are a few highlights from Thursday's meeting.

Highlights of the AD Report from Josh Brooks
- Brooks began his report by paying tribute to longtime Assistant AD Mike Bilbow and Emily Dantzler, wife of Georgia play-by-play announcer Jeff Dantzler. Mike and Emily passed away this year following courageous battles with cancer.
- Bulldog student-athletes produced the highest-ever term GPA in school history with a 3.27 this spring.

- Thirteen Bulldog football players were taken in this year's NFL Draft. Kirby Smart now has more first-round NFL draft selections (20) than he does losses (19) during his time as head coach at Georgia.
- Women's tennis won the 2025 NCAA National Championship, ITA Indoor National Championship and the SEC title. Equestrian won the program's eighth national championship.
- Overall, Georgia Athletics has won 51 team national championships. That total represents the fourth-most among SEC programs.
- This past season, men's basketball earned its first trip to the NCAA tournament in 10 years.
- Georgia's women's track and field team won the 2025 SEC Outdoor crown. The Bulldogs finished national runner-up in both men's and women's indoor track and field, while both programs are currently ranked in the top-5 heading into the outdoor championships.
- Women track and field's Stephanie Ratcliffe complemented her SEC Outdoor Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year award by winning the conference hammer throw title over the weekend.
- Women's tennis head coach Drake Bernstein was named the 2025 SEC Coach of the Year, earning the honor in each of his first two seasons as head coach. Dasha Vidmanova was tabbed the SEC Player of the Year.
- Baseball is poised to host a NCAA regional, while softball earned a Super Regional Berth.
- Men's golf punched its ticket to the 2025 NCAA Championships with a fourth-place finish in the Tallahassee Regional.
- Earlier this month, Georgia baseball, women's tennis and women's track were all ranked No. 1 in the same week.
