UGA Student-Athletes Recognized at Annual Dawgs Choice Awards

ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia student-athletes gathered together on Monday evening to attend the annual Dawgs Choice Awards Ceremony, presented by the UGA Athletic Association.

The Dawgs Choice Awards, supported by The Georgia Way, is put together annually by the UGA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.). 

The Vince Dooley and Liz Murphey Athletes of the Year Awards recognize the most outstanding male and female athletes for uncommon achievement in his or her varsity sports. Christopher Morales Williams of men's track and field was named the Vince Dooley Athlete of the Year, while Dasha Vidmanova of women's tennis was honored as the Liz Murphey Athlete of the Year.

As the graduating female senior with the highest GPA, Abby McCulloh of women's swimming and diving was presented with the Marilyn Vincent Scholar-Athlete Award, while football player Collin Drake took home the Dick Bestwick Scholar-Athlete Award, as the graduating male senior with the highest GPA.

McColluh was also chosen as one of the 2025 Georgia recipients of the H. Boyd McWhorter Post-Graduate Scholarship, alongside men's swimming and diving team member Jackson Bates. The pair of swimmers were also presented with the Joel Eaves Award, which recognizes the male and female seniors with the highest GPA entering the fall semester. Chaz Chambliss of football and Guillermina Grant of women's tennis were awarded the Brad Davis SEC Community Service Post-Graduate Scholarships.

Baseball player Henry Hunter was presented with the Dick Copas Leadership Award, while the Clifford Lewis Leadership award was given to Destin Howard of softball. These awards recognize two student leaders who are the embodiment of dedication, motivation, discipline, and positive attitude, who seek the good of the group above personal gain.

After coming off their eighth national title, the equestrian team was awarded this year's Bulldog Cup, which recognizes the team that excels academically, supports their peers in athletic competition and consistently serves in the community. 

Other award winners include: 
Faculty Athletics Representative Award: Men's Tennis (3.55 GPA) and Women's Golf (3.63 GPA)
Hornsby Howell Community Service Award: Tessa Brown (Equestrian)
Sportsmanship Ethics: Oscar Pinto Sansano (Men's Tennis) and Julianna Stephens (Women's Swimming & Diving)
Inclusive Excellence: Justin Abson (Men's Basketball) and Kieley Gayle (Women's Track & Field)
