April 17, 2025 | Gymnastics
FORT WORTH, Texas — Sophomores Ady Wahl and Lily Smith of the Georgia GymDogs recorded stand-out routines on the floor and vault rotations, respectively, as individual competitors at the 2025 NCAA Gymnastics National Championship on Thursday evening at Dickies Arena.Â
Â
Wahl, a Zanesville, Ohio native, vaulted a 9.8750 to tie for tenth overall in her first career showing at nationals. Her routine earned Wahl a spot as an NCAA First Team All-American after posting the third highest score on vault in the first session.
Â
Recording a 9.9375, Smith secured fifth overall on the floor rotation. Smith also earned NCAA First Team All-American status after ranking top four on the event in session one, her first time to receive the honor on floor. The sophomore entered postseason ranked 14th nationally in the event.Â
Â
2025 marked Smith's second nationals competition. The Limerick, Pa. native was an individual qualifier in the all-around at nationals in 2024 where she earned four All-America nods— first team on bars and beam, and second team on floor and all-around.Â
Â
To qualify as individuals, Wahl posted a 9.900 on vault and Smith performed a 9.925 on floor during the second round of the NCAA Washington Regional. The two GymDogs rotated with Alabama, beginning on vault and finishing on floor.Â

On the GymDogs' experience at nationals. . .
"We are very proud of the way Ady and Lily represented the University of Georgia at the NCAA Women's Gymnastics National Championships today in Fort Worth, Texas. They had tremendous performances and are now All-Americans. This is a huge achievement for our program moving forward. With Lily's second time at nationals and Ady's first, they can take this experience back home to Athens and lead us to a team berth at Nationals next year and beyond. If today's performances are indicative of the GymDogs' future, then we are poised to have some incredible seasons ahead! We are looking forward to seeing our team on this stage in the very near future."

On her nationals experience. . .
"It was absolutely amazing to make it to nationals again. The atmosphere and the energy are so exciting and something I hope to continue to experience. It is definitely tough not being here with my entire team, but I am so grateful I got to share this experience with Ady and Holly. That being said, the GymDogs will be at nationals as a team next year! We have the right coaches, the right team and we are hungry for more."
So. Ady Wahl
On her first experience at nationals. . .
"First of all, I want to give all the glory to Jesus Christ because I would not be doing what I am doing without Him. My first nationals experience was something I will never forget. The atmosphere was electric, the environment was so fun, and the gymnastics was phenomenal. I have never had as much fun at a competition as I did at nationals. Now that I have tasted what it's like to be there, I'm ready to compete and move forward with my team for next year so we can all experience it together!"
