Smith, Wahl Set to Compete at NCAA National Championship as Individual Qualifiers

ATHENS, Ga, --- Sophomores Lily Smith and Ady Wahl of the Georgia gymnastics team are set to compete as individuals for the 2025 NCAA Gymnastics National Championship on Thursday, April 17 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. 

Smith qualified to compete on floor after scoring a 9.925 in the anchor position for the GymDogs, while Wahl will be competing on vault after scoring a 9.900 during the second round of the NCAA Washington Regional.  The duo will rotate with Alabama and begin competition on vault.  The first session of the semifinals will begin at 4:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2. 

Smith, a native of Limerick, Pa., ranked 14th in the country on floor with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 9.930 heading into regional competition. She ended the season with five consecutive scores of 9.925 or better, including one 9.975 at LSU. This is her second time competing individually at nationals as she qualified last year for all-around.  She earned four All-America nods- first-team on bars and beam, and second-team on floor and all-around.   
 
Wahl, a native of Zanesville, Ohio, averaged a 9.829 on vault this season with an NQS of 9.865.  She has competed vault in every meet since the start of her freshman year.  

The Georgia gymnastics program has 42 individual national champion titles by 20 gymnasts, including seven on vault and 11 on floor.  Brandie Jay (vault) and Brittany Rogers (bars) were the last GymDogs to win NCAA Individual National Championships in 2016.
