Lily Smith and Nyla Aquino Recognized with All-SEC Gymnastics Team Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – So. Lily Smith was named to the All-SEC Team and Fr. Nyla Aquino earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Smith, of Limerick, Pa., earned her spot on the All-SEC Team based on her bars performance throughout the season, meaning she was among the top eight scorers in the conference based on NQS on the apparatus during the regular season. Smith recorded a 9.920 regular season NQS on bars.

Aquino secured her place on the All-Freshman Team from both her vault and floor routines this season. The Boston native was among the top four SEC freshmen on these events, based on her vault (9.865) and floor (9.925) regular season NQS scores.

The GymDogs are set to compete at the NCAA Washington Regional at Alaska Airlines Arena. The Seattle Regional will begin on Thursday, April 3, with the first round featuring Illinois and UC Davis at 5 p.m. ET. The winner will advance to the second round on Friday, April 4.

Round two will be split into two sessions. Session I will include No. 7 seed Missouri, No. 10 seed Georgia, Arizona, and Arizona State at 4 p.m. ET. Session II will feature No. 2 seed Oklahoma, No. 15 seed Auburn, and Nebraska, as well as the first-round winner at 10 p.m. ET.

The top two teams from each second-round session will advance to the Regional Final at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 6.
