WELLINGTON, Fla. –
Former NCEA and Georgia student-athlete Carly Anthony took the win alongside her U.S. Jumping teammates at the FEI Jumping Nations Cup Wellington CSIO4* to begin the month of March.

She is the first known former NCEA rider to reach the senior team level with U.S. Equestrian.

The Americans took the victory to start the first team event in the U.S. this season with a team total of five faults to take the win. It was the program's tenth victory in the Wellington edition of the Nations Cup for the USA.

In her senior team debut with the U.S. Jumping Team, Anthony rode Heavenly W.

"To represent the U.S. on a senior team is an incredible honor," said Anthony, a 2013 graduate and former captain for the UGA Bulldogs. "I am so grateful for the opportunity. It is a goal I've been working towards for many years, and to accomplish what we did that night with three incredible female riders, took me back to the feeling I had winning nationals freshman year at UGA with my teammates."

From USEF Communications:
First Round
"In her senior team debut for the U.S. Jumping Team, Carly Anthony (Wellington, Fla.) and Heavenly W impressed and delivered. The duo showcased accuracy and poise in their trip around the course, which proved to be challenging for combinations, with rails dropping around the track, particularly at the triple combination."

Second Round
"A determined Anthony guided Heavenly W, a 2012 KWPN gelding (Calvaro F.C. x Quidam de Revel) owned by Portfolio Horses LLC, and cared for by Pauline Holmer, to another clear round for the team. The duo secured the only double clear effort of the night for the team. Anthony, who lost a stirrup at the oxer at fence eight, rode the course with grit, finishing through the timers and giving all the credit to her mount, Heavenly W."

About the NCEA
A non-profit corporation, the NCEA is a governing body to advance the sport of equestrian. The NCEA is responsible for the development and administration of equestrian rules and guidelines. Equestrian is subject to all NCAA policies and procedures in the same manner as other sports. In 1998, Equestrian was identified and adopted by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Committee on Women's Athletics (CWA) as an emerging sport for women at the Division I and II levels.

NCEA competitions are in a head-to-head format, and schools may choose to compete as a single or dual discipline team (Jumping Seat and Western). Each discipline has two events: in Jumping Seat, Fences and Flat, and in Western, Horsemanship and Reining. Teams can have five riders per event, with horses assigned by random draw at the start of the competition. Riders from opposing teams compete on the same horse, and whichever rider receives the higher score earns one point for her team. The level of difficulty is demonstrated by the accuracy of the pattern and how the competitor uses the horse to the best of her ability.
