
Georgia Breaks Women’s 4x400m School Record At Razorback Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. --- For the second time in as many years, the women's 4x400-meter relay team shattered the school record at the Razorback Invitational, highlighting a successful meet weekend for the Bulldogs in Arkansas.

Georgia will take a week off from competition before splitting the squads for the first time this season on Feb. 14-15. The distance runners will head to Nashville, Tenn., for the Music City Challenge while the remainder of the Bulldogs will travel to Clemson, S.C., for the Tiger Paw Invitational.

- In their first relay together, Aaliyah Butler, Michelle Smith, Haley Tate, and Dejanea Oakley ran a blistering 3:27.95 to unseat Georgia's previous school record from the 2024 Razorback Invitational. The quartet finished second at this year's meet with the No. 2 time in the world this year.
- The men's 4x400m relay also surged into the record books as Will Floyd, Shemar Chambers, Xai Ricks, and Ervin "Flash" Pearson clocked a 3:07.08 to finish third. The time ranks seventh program history in the event.
- Freshman Skylynn Townsend continued her strong start to the season with a runner-up finish in the triple jump, leaping 13.30 meters/43 feet, 7.75 inches on her fifth attempt to become the No. 8 performer in program history.
- Smith, who ran on the women's 4x400m team, also etched her name on the program's all-time top-10 list individually. The freshman moved into sixth in program history in the 400-meter dash with a time 53.06, finishing ninth overall in Arkansas.
- Junior sprinter Kaila Jackson delivered a runner-up performance in the 60m, clocking a 7.32 in her season debut. She clocked a third-place time of 7.34 in the prelims before finishing second in the finals.
