December 16, 2025 | Men's Basketball

ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia Bulldogs and North Carolina Tar Heels have agreed to play a home-and-home series over the next three basketball seasons in 2026 and 2028.

Georgia will travel to Chapel Hill to face North Carolina on Friday, Nov. 13 next season. The Tar Heels will return the game in Athens on a date to be determined during November or December of 2028.

UGA and UNC have met 18 times, but the upcoming contests will be the first this century. The Tar Heels own a 13-5 edge in all-time meetings; however, Georgia won the most significant matchup, 82-77, in the final of the 1983 East Regional of the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs also bested UNC, 26-24, in the championship game of the 1932 Southern Conference Tournament. Georgia defeated Mississippi State, Virginia, Duke and North Carolina in successive days to claim that title.
