Olree, Yonas Lead Georgia Cross Country At Southern Showcase

Fast Facts
- The men's team tallied 153 points in the 8k race, placing fifth as a team to open the day. On the women's side, Georgia finished 11th with 339 points in the team's second 5k of the season.
- Olree led the Bulldog men across the finish line for the second-straight meet, clocking n 8k time of 24:06.32. The sophomore now has four scoring performances in his collegiate career, including two this season. Sophomore Conner Rutherford finished second for the Bulldogs for the second time in as many weeks with a time of 24:34.50 and a 23rd-place finish.
- Three Bulldogs pieced together their first scoring performances of the season to round out the Georgia men's top five. Redshirt sophomore Mark Trammell clocked a 24:47.99 to place 38th while senior KC Heron followed close behind in 40th (24:50.37). Fellow senior Zack Truitt rounded out Georgia's top five in 50th place, crossing the finish line in 24:56.43.
- Yonas recorded her second-consecutive scoring performance to open her collegiate career, crossing the finish line 47th with a 5k time of 17:47.19. Junior Lorel Golden, who tallied points in every meet during the 2023 campaign, extended her scoring streak to eight-straight races, posting a time of 17:54.19 to finish 61st.
- Freshman Kate Robinson crossed the finish line third for the Lady Bulldogs and 91st overall with a time of 18:13.07. Following just three seconds behind was senior Gracie O'Neal, who finished 95th in 18:16.61. Junior Nina Ouellette snagged the final scoring position for Georgia with a time of 18:29.03 and a 116th-place finish.

"We made a really good step forward on the men's side," said head coach Adam Tribble. "Olree really took his running to a whole new level today. We have a couple more guys that hopefully can close the gap a bit up to him over the next five weeks. If we can have Olree continue to stay towards the front and close the time gap from one and five, we can be ok this season.
"On the women's side, they ran tough and overall had great effort. Another positive step in the right direction and we'll get back to work to ready for the next one."
Up Next
The Bulldogs will have a month off from competition before returning to the course at Alabama's Crimson Classic on Oct. 18. That meet will mark the final regular season meet before the SEC Championships, which are slated for Nov. 1 in College Station, Texas.
