ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia's cross country teams opened their respective seasons at the Stan Sims Cross Country Opener on Friday, placing second as a team in both the men's and women's races as Ryan Olree posted an individual runner-up finish.Â

- The Georgia men competed in the 4-mile race to kick off the meet, placing four Bulldogs in the top 10 to finish second in team scoring with 37 points. The women followed in the 5k, tallying 57 points to finish second after winning the tiebreaker with Kennesaw State.
- Olree was Georgia's top finisher, completing the 4-mile race in 19:20.98 to cross the finish line just over a half-second behind the winner. Fellow sophomore Conner Rutherford also finished in the top five, crossing the finish line fifth with a time of 19:28.40.
- Three Bulldogs crossed the finish line in ninth, 10th, and 11th to round out Georgia's point-scorers. Sophomore Luke Churchwell led the pack with a time of 19:49.45 while freshman Simon Schabort and senior Cole Heron followed close behind in 19:51.20 and 19:52.31, respectively.
- On the women's side, a pair of freshmen led Georgia across the finish line in the 5k race. Kate Robinson clocked a time of 17:57.92 to place fifth overall while Izzy Yonas took 11th with a time of 18:08.90.
- Junior Lorel Golden clocked a time of 18:10.77 to finish 13th while senior Gracie O'Neal placed 17th with an 18:28.87. Sophomore Bella Brick rounded out the Georgia top five in 25th with a time of 18:49.57.
