2024 Cross Country Schedule Released

July 24, 2024 | Cross Country

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia's 2024 cross country schedule has been released, according to an announcement from Bulldog cross country coach Adam Tribble.

The slate includes three regular season stops before the postseason begins with the Southeastern Conference Championship on Nov. 1.

This will mark Tribble's debut as the new head cross country coach.  He was a captain and an All-Region performer for Georgia before graduating in 2002.

"It's been 20 years since I put on the 'G', and I'm excited and honored to do it once again," said Tribble.  "Season openers, in my opinion, are filled with lots of uncertainty and questions, but it's also a time of discovery.  Often new horizons and goals can emerge from openers.  I am eager to see where exactly everyone is from both a fitness standpoint and overall desire and passion level."

Georgia starts its campaign on Aug. 30 at the Stan Sims Cross Country Opener.  Kennesaw State will play host to the opener at the Allatoona Creek Park in Acworth.

Two weeks later, the Bulldogs will make the trip to Huntsville, Ala., for the Southern Showcase on Sept. 13.  This marks the fourth consecutive year the Bulldogs will travel to Huntsville for a regular season meet.

The final regular season action will come in SEC territory at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Oct. 18.  Counting this year, Georgia will have traveled to the University of Alabama's home meet for three straight years.

"The Crimson meet should be a great measuring stick to really show us where we are with so many teams from the SEC competing there," said Tribble.

The SEC Championship will arrive in College Station, Texas, for the first time since 2015 at the first of November.

The slate continues on Nov. 15 with the NCAA South Regional in Tallahassee, Fla.  Those teams or individuals who qualify will wrap up their season at the NCAA Championship on Nov. 23.  Nationals will be in Madison, Wisc., for the first time since 2018.

"The biggest goal for the entire fall is to fully transition over into our training system," said Tribble, who was hired in late June.  "The season is broken up into three parts in that we will test the waters and see where we are in the first two meets before moving into an extended five-week training block.  After that, we return to racing at the Crimson Classic and the subsequent postseason races to follow."

In 2023, the Bulldog men were 10th at the SEC Championship and 13th at the NCAA South Regional.  The Lady Bulldogs took 14th and 17th, respectively, at their pair of postseason meets.
