COLUMBIA, Mo. --- After a solid performance on the uneven bars to start the meet, the Georgia gymnastics team increased its team total to 196.425, but fell to Missouri's score of 196.975 on Friday night at the Hearnes Center.
The GymDogs started with an incredibly strong start on bars, scoring a 49.475, which is the highest bars score since the 2019 Athens Regional Finals. Freshman JaFree Scott and senior Haley de Jong led the charge, both scoring 9.925. Junior Katie Finnegan followed with a 9.900. Freshman Naya Howard swung to a 9.875 and graduate Josie Angeny contributed a 9.850.
Moving on to vault, the GymDogs tallied a 48.725. Howard was Georgia's leader with a 9.850, followed by Cashman with a 9.800.
The GymDogs performed on floor in the third rotation, adding a 49.075 to the team total. For the second-straight week senior Amanda Cashman matched her career high score of 9.925. De Jong followed with a 9.875 and freshman Eryn Williams contributed a 9.825.
Finishing competition on beam, Georgia notched a 49.150 for the final rotation. Senior Vanessa Deniz received a 9.900 for her routine, followed by a 9.875 from Scott. In the anchor position, de Jong scored a 9.850 and Soraya Hawthorne notched a 9.800.
Georgia will host a quad meet in the annual MLK Day Meet on Monday, January 16 at 2 p.m. in Stegeman Coliseum with Rutgers, Fisk, and Ohio State.
