Gymdogs Top Razorbacks in Conference Clash

ATHENS, Ga. -- The sixteenth-ranked Georgia gymnastics team (3-1, 2-1) defeated the No. 23 Arkansas Razorbacks (0-3, 0-2) by a 196.225-195.025 final score in front of a season-best crowd of 9,899 on Friday night in Stegeman Coliseum.

Georgia claimed three individual titles and the all-around crown in the meet. Sydney Snead earned top honors on vault with a 9.9, Rachel Dickson posted the highest score on bars with a 9.85 and Gigi Marino bested the competition on floor with a 9.9 to cap the night. Snead also recorded a meet-high 39.125 in her all-around score.

"This group is tough and they fight," said head coach Danna Durante. "They will not give up anything. We want to focus on the performance we want to give, and then the scores will follow."

The Gymdogs got off to a quick start in the first rotation as Snead led the team with a 9.9 on vault. Lauren Johnson (9.875), Dickson (9.85), Morgan Reynolds (9.825) and Gigi Marino (9.8) also helped the team to an early 49.25-48.425 lead.

Georgia continued to add on to its advantage in the second rotation, posting a 48.975 as a team on bars. Dickson paved the way with a 9.85, Snead and Rachel Schick both tacked on a 9.825 to help bring the Georgia lead to a 98.225-97.225 at the midpoint of the meet.

The Gymdogs maintained their cushion after the third rotation, scoring a 48.725 on beam. Hayley Sanders improved from her first beam performance by claiming a 9.825 on Friday, and Rachel Schick added a 9.85 of her own to highlight Georgia's third rotation. Sabrina Vega (9.8) remained solid on beam as the Gymdogs continued to lead Arkansas 146.950-146.025 heading into the final rotation.

Georgia capped the victory with a team score of 49.275 on floor. Marino closed the meet with a 9.9, while Vega (9.875), Vivi Babalis (9.85), Snead (9.825) and Reynolds (9.825) all chipped in to cap off the Razorbacks 196.225-196.025.

The Gymdogs return to action next Friday, January 27 as they host Missouri at 7 p.m. in Stegemen Colisuem. The meet can be streamed on SEC Network +.
