WACO, Texas- The Georgia equestrian team fell to TCU 10-5 in the semifinal round of the 2016 NCEA National Championship on Saturday at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas. The Bulldogs finished the season 12-4.
"This is never the way you want to end," head coach Meghan Boenig said. "We had a fantastic start to the morning. We were on a great high and then we made errors. You cannot make that many errors and expect to come out on top. This should have been our meet, our time to show off. This was the first time that we had quite so many things not go our way, but we're the ones responsible for that. We swallow that pill, move forward and look to next year."
Competition started in Reining with Georgia dropping a 2-1 decision to the Horned Frogs. TCU grabbed the first point with Meloney Morris edging Kyndall Harper 145.144.5. UGA's Lauren Garmon rode to a tie against Hunter De Jane with a score of 137. TCU took the next point before Claudia Spreng put Georgia's first point on the board with a 133.5-132.5 defeat of Brooke Boyle.
