On getting in so many subs...
"Everybody works hard and wants the opportunity to play. When you get a chance to play a lot of guys, it's good for morale and it's good for experience. I'm glad we got the game in position to do that. It'll be fun watching the tape."
On the second-half rushing game...
"I challenged our line at halftime. Our backs were slamming into trash. There was no space. We weren't controlling the line like we're used to. Once we got space for the backs, good things happened. The whole key was when the line took over."
On receiver Malcolm Mitchell...
"We're seeing a healthy Malcolm Mitchell. He had a great offseason, spring, summer, fall practice and now games. The guy has worked hard on being a better technician. He's polished his game. He took it seriously and has done a good job."
On getting ready for Alabama...
"We'll find out what we did wrong, correct it and get better at what we do. We have so much to get better on and it's a task we take very seriously. Our goal is to get better on a daily basis. It sounds boring, but that's football. Football is a game of repetition. If you continuously rep it well at practice, hopefully you'll execute it well in a game."
On tying the number of wins Coach Wallace Butts had...
"Coach Butts was a great coach and his legacy lives on with ‘Wally's Boys,' a great group of Bulldogs that played for Coach Butts, loved him and appreciated all that he did."
On Southern's second quarter...
"They had a really good drive. They moved the ball well and they had a fourth-down conversion on their scoring drive. They're a good football team. They average 270 passing and 170 rushing. They're a very balanced group. They did their thing. I was impressed with them."
QB Greyson Lambert
On his last two performances…
"I haven't really done anything differently. I have just kept playing. Bad things are going to happen and good things are going to happen. You have to keep playing and put those things behind you."
On the upcoming Alabama game…
"Right now, it is the next game on our schedule. We are going to celebrate this win and get ready for next week's game."
On if the second half of the Vanderbilt game helped put him in a groove…
"It definitely mattered, not just for me but for the entire offense. To go out there and be able to sustain drives not just on the ground. For us to be able to do that as an offense has really worked out."
TB Nick Chubb
On being mentioned with Herschel Walker…
"It is truly an honor to be mentioned with him. Herschel Walker – that's what you hear about when you think Georgia football."
On his offensive line helping him to his 12th-straight 100-yard game…
"Coming into the half, they were like ‘how many do you need Nick?' and I was like ‘ya'll care more about it than I do.' When somebody said I only needed 25-yards they started saying ‘let's get it, let's get it,' and I said ok, let's go."
WR Malcolm Mitchell
On if he is gaining confidence…
"I go out at practice and do that every day, so maybe it is just me being comfortable with my ability as a player."
On his TD catch that was called back…
"I caught it, turned around, saw that flag and I was hoping it was on them. I was hoping I got another opportunity and I did."
DT Sterling Bailey
On if he has thought about the Alabama game…
"Honestly, I have just been focusing on the game at hand and everything else will work itself out."
On so many young players getting to play…
"It's always good to see the young guys get in and play really well. It goes to show you they are out there working hard Monday through Friday, and it's good to see it pay off on Saturday."
Southern Head Coach Dawson Odums
On his team's performance…
"Nobody likes to lose. Considering the opponent we were taking on I thought our guys competed. I thought they played hard, I thought they tried to execute the game plan that we had in place. At halftime (Georgia) got motivated and they came out and seized control of the game. I thought in the first half our guys played as good as they could've played. I thought we met the challenge and it was hard for us to get anything offensively. They're very good defensively. The deciding factor is in the players. You see the nutrition, you see the difference in the dollars, and I think that's why the separation in the game took place."
On the Georgia running game…
"A lot of it came down to me versus you. In that battle, when "me" is better than "you," "me" wins the one-on-one. That happens a lot. The good thing is we get back into conference play so we'll be getting back to guys that are on our level. This is SEC football. I think the third quarter, they showed you big boy football. They showed you why they play in the SEC. It came down to winning one on one. In the first half we were able to get two on one. In the third quarter it was one on one, and they won the one on ones."
On Southern's first half defensive performance…
"I thought we took some steps forward. I thought we challenged those guys because we knew that we were going to play against a complete offense. They can run the ball, they can throw the ball. They have a passing attack that favors completions.
On the ability to run against Georgia…
"Our offensive line is pretty good. They're going to open holes no matter who they play against. It's just a matter of staying patient and sticking with the running game. I thought we ran the ball hard and I thought the offensive line did a good job. I think we might've given up one sack today. It's something to see, to see those guys competing against guys that are superior to them on paper. That's why I told them you can't measure their heart. This team knows how to fight and I'm pleased to be the head coach of them."
QB Austin Howard
On the offense's performance…
"We went out and gave an excellent effort. Somethings didn't go our way, but some things did. I'm just proud of our guys all the way around. They gave a tremendous effort and fought to the end."
On Tillery's impact…
"Lenard, he's going to do what he does best anyways. He makes my job easier every game. I just put my faith in him and he puts his faith in me and we go out and do it."
DT Gabe Echols
On the team's successful first half…
"The coach called the plays and we executed them to the best of our ability…We know they are one of the top teams in the probably the top college conference there is, but we just went out there to play hard, play strong and play fast. In the first half, thing really tilted our way at least defensively."
On stopping Chubb…
"He's a good back. You can't tackle him up high, you have to go down low because he will bounce you off. But for the most part a great running back. We knew coming in he was going to be a load."
DT Daniel Brown
On playing Georgia even in the second quarter…
"We got adjusted to the game speed. We came out with a mindset that we can play with them, but until we got to the game and realized that anything goes and the opportunity is here, we didn't realize we could seize the opportunity."
On Georgia's running game in the second half…
"We were doing the same thing as we were in the first half, we just weren't capitalizing on our opportunities. We missed some tackles and went high on some big backs. They are some strong, elusive backs…They also capitalized on a couple of play actions. It was there for us, we just didn't capitalize on the opportunity."
RB Lenard Tillery
On playing across from Chubb and Michel…
"Chubb is a Heisman candidate and Michel as well, they are two great athletes. Whenever you are going against them, you feel like you are just like them. They are trying to get to the next level, and I am trying to go to the next level. They love playing football and I love playing football. Whenever you are going in to it, you want to go up against them and hopefully outdo them."
