Georgia Head Coach Mark Richt
On the win …
"It was a good day, a good solid victory. It was the last home game for the seniors and it meant a lot to them to finish with style. The underclassmen played their tails off for those guys. That was a motivating factor and they did a good job of that. … Overall, the coaches and the players did a wonderful job of focusing on what's important."
On the lines of scrimmage …
"I was very pleased with what happened up front. It was a line-of-scrimmage game and we won in the trenches today on both sides of the ball. We had a situation where we had a comfortable lead and we were able to pound the ball and chew up the clock. … Part of it was the defense getting off the field and then the offense moving the ball. We had 71 plays and they had 47 plays and that was important."
On Dominick Sanders …
"If you watch him in practice, he's always picking off balls. He's got great ball skills and instincts to know when and where the quarterback is going to throw it. He's not afraid to go make a play. He can break on the ball and catch it when he gets there."
On Auburn …
"Going to Auburn is tough. It's going to be a big one for both of us."
On the "wild dog" offense …
"We have skill guys who can handle it. Terry Godwin is a guy that can handle the zone read and Sony Michel can take the ball and run it. That adds another blocker to the scheme. The defense figures you're going to run it, but you have numbers better at the line of scrimmage."
On the quarterback play …
"It was just what we needed. There was no point in slinging it all over the yard today. The safest way was just how we played it. But when we did throw it, we were fairly effective."
On Sony Michel …
"It was a great game for him. At the half, we talked about being really close to breaking a big one. When we finally broke through and got a long run, the yards start coming and you feel better about the run game. When the line of scrimmage controls the game like we did on both sides, everything looks good."
On Brice Ramsey punting …
"He's got a big leg and he's taken to this. I'm proud of him. Brice got his chance and he's taking advantage of it."
QB Greyson Lambert
On lining up at wide receiver when Georgia went into a wildcat formation …
"I'm not the fastest guy in the world, but I am pretty tall. Maybe that is a mismatch or something (laughter). We were able to move the ball with that and the line was able to create some pretty big holes for the backs in that formation."
On difference in the first half and second half …
"Again, on the first drive of the game we had to deal with a penalty, which set us back. We just can't start out so slow and that is on all of us. We came out and played better in the second half, but we have to start better than we have been."
TB Sony Michel
On the offense's performance on Saturday …
"We haven't been in the end zone for a while now, so it was great to get a touchdown and put some points on the board. It was exciting."
On overcoming any off-the-field distractions this past week …
"I would say yes in a way, but we kind of blocked all that stuff out and got back to what we have been doing and who we are."
LB Jake Ganus
On overcoming adversity this week …
"It hasn't been that tough. I think on the outside it looks a lot worse than it has been on the inside. We are together. We are a family and we are a tight unit. When stuff like that happens we just get even closer. When you put our backs against the wall, we just come out fighting."
On the defense's performance on Saturday …
"I think we have been playing pretty well. Overall, our defense is getting better. I think we had a great game plan today and we executed and did the things we need to do to be successful."
SS Dominick Sanders
On getting the win today …
"It felt pretty good. We just kept our heads up and kept our eyes on the prize, which is the main thing and we were able to do today."
On his second interception…
"I wanted it pretty bad. That's how I felt. It is just fun anytime you get an interception. I just kept my eyes on the quarterback and was able to break on the ball and get it."
Kentucky Head Coach Mark Stoops
Opening statement…
"Very difficult loss, tough to swallow. That was a pretty good beating by Georgia, a very good football team that had their backs against the wall and responded my better than we did. Give them credit, they beat us. It was very difficult for us to move the football. As I said over and over again, we're certainly not built to win a game on any one side. We need to play well on offense, defense and special teams. We really didn't play well enough on any one side to win. We did some decent things on the defensive side of the ball at times. We're doing the very best we can in the kicking game right now with our kicker struggling kicking the football. Recovery units did a decent job. All in all, again we'll look at ourselves, we'll man up and know that this type of play is not acceptable, we'll go back to work and do everything we can to go back and get a victory next week."
On the play of special teams...
"Field position issues were major. With the fumbled punt, there's not a lot I can say about that. Obviously we can't do it. Field position has been a major issue. Guys are grinding. There's a lot that goes into it, and kickers are a big part of it. When their punter's knocking the hell out of the ball, and their kicker's knocking the hell out of the ball, that certainly helps recovery units."
On Georgia's defense...
"They executed and played very hard and covered us. The possessions is what killed us. We were going three-and-out way too much. We would get some decent yards on first down. When I say decent, we'd get four or five yards. Then we wouldn't get any on second. And we weren't very good on third-and-medium or third down in general. When you're not moving the football, that makes it extremely difficult. Then you add in some turnovers - not good. Then the defense, we're just not built to play like that. We can't keep on going out and sustaining it against anybody, especially not against a physical football team. Can't keep on going on the field thinking we're going to get off. It gets difficult."
On Georgia's resiliency...
"I know the character of that team. Coach Richt has been around forever. That's a prideful football team. You all just gave them a chance to circle the wagons. You know what they're all about, you knew that they were going to play good. We have to do the same thing."
QB Patrick Towles
On today's game...
"I thought we prepared well. I thought we did everything we had to do put out a good performance, but preparing is great and you want to do the best you can, but it doesn't really matter if you can't perform on Saturday. We've got to perform better."
On his own play...
"I thought I made good decisions today, I just didn't throw the football that well. There's a lot to that, but I have to get back to work and figure out how to become a better football player."
LB Josh Forrest
On stopping Georgia's offense...
"It seemed like they were getting first down after first down. It was tough to stop. And then they threw a lot of different stuff at us today like the wildcat and some quick throws. But that happens in games. We just have to go back in and look at the film and correct it."
RB Jojo Kemp
On the affect of the game on the rest of the season...
"We have three games left so we just have to keep our heads up so we don't have the same results as last year. Our guys will come back to practice on Monday and just keep fighting. We will continue to work and get better."
On the fourth down run...
"I knew it was the type of play where you have to stick your head down and try to get what you can get. It was a crucial situation and we needed it so I was just trying to fight for what I could get."
