UGA Falls to No. 6 Gators At Home

ATHENS, Ga.– The University of Georgia Soccer team fell to sixth-ranked Florida 3-0 Thursday night in front of a capacity crowd at the Turner Soccer Complex.
The Bulldogs (5-11-1,4-7 SEC) and Gators (14-3-1, 8-2-1 SEC) came out flying in the first half as both teams put immediate pressure on their opponents' back lines with high tempo moving forward.
Head Coach Billy Lesesne was disappointed with the outcome of the game.
"It was a disappointing result," Lesesne said. "Our effort wasn't what it needed to be against a team of Florida's quality. We didn't deal well with their possession early on. They scored a very nice combination goal early on and then to give up one really late in the half which was a mistake on our part made it difficult to head into half down 2-0. In the second-half we went for it and played the 4-3-3 and created a couple little looks that we're good. We put a little pressure on them, but we weren't able to finish one. They are a very good team."
Florida would strike first in the 21st minute as Savannah Jordan put home a pass from Brooke Sharp that just beat the outstretched left leg of Georgia keeper Louise Hogrell.
In the final minute of the first half, Jordan would double the Gators lead to 2-0, finding the back of the net again after a tricky bounce got by Hogrell outside of the Georgia box.
Florida's final goal would come almost midway through the second half as Florida's Pamela Eiga connected on a penalty kick, making it 3-0.
Georgia (5-11-1, 4-7 SEC) awaits its Southeastern Conference Tournament fate after finishing its regular season schedule winning two of its final three conference games 3-1 at Vanderbilt and 1-0 at No. 16 Auburn
