Georgia vs. Alabama - Post-Game Quotes
Georgia Head Coach Andy Landers "The best thing about today, besides that we registered another win, is that we were able to play without our starting point guard (Jasine James) who needed this day off to help her wrist recover. I'm really happy about that and pleased that Ronika (Ransford) was able to do the job that she did and that Meredith (Mitchell) was able to play some at the point and play well also."
"We rebounded the ball better starting the game. Anne Marie (Armstrong) and Porsha (Phillips) both got the ball, but they also left some points on the table. They were both active, got the ball under the rim and scored early. Anne Marie's two threes early in the game helped create the separation. Coming into today, we understood that (LaToya) King and (Tierney) Jenkins were the people who generate the offense for them, and our team took it as a challenge to stop those two, particularly our inside people, and I really think they did an excellent job with it."
Alabama Head Coach Wendell Hudson "We had a breakaway late, but no one is going to go back and look at the breakaway after the game because Georgia just got off to a really quick lead. They came out and shot the three well in the first half, and it turned into a nine-point game instead of a four-point game early. They took advantage of open shots and made them, which helped them to set the tempo for the ballgame early. We got off to a slow start and we couldn't really get going, and when that happens against a good team like Georgia then you aren't going to win the ballgame."
"You add the shooting percentage to the offensive rebounding that Georgia had then you see why they played so well. Before the game we talked about it over and over, we have to block out and we couldn't do it. They had a height advantage that made it a little easier for them and they just won the battle."
"I want everybody to hate our next opponents. I don't want anyone to like whoever is coming in and that will really give us a home court advantage. We're going to come out and compete every night for the rest of the season and hopefully we'll play a lot better. Today, Georgia just kept making shots and the basket just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger, and they just ran away with it."
